02/04/2012 - Shen Yun Performing Arts Show 2012 Vancouver (with Live Orchestra)

The New York based Shen Yun Performing Arts once again brings an entirely new lineup of its world-class classical Chinese dance, numerous ethnic and folk dance styles, songs, and musical scores to Vancouver, in February 2012.

In the two and half hour program, through a collection of short-piece performances, audiences travel from the Himalayas to tropical lake-filled regions; from the legends of the culture’s creation over 5,000 years ago through to the story in modern China today; from the highest heavens down to the dusty plateaus of the Middle Kingdom.

Shen Yun’s one-of-a-kind orchestra, with its all-original compositions, blends East and West like no other. The distinctly Chinese sound of ancient instruments like the erhu and the pipa are bathed in a rich sea of Western strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brass. The result— two great classical music traditions producing one fresh, unexpected sound.

Full stage large animated digital backdrops transport the audience to another world. Projected behind the dancers, the hi-tech images lift the stage and set it amidst blossoming landscapes, deep forests, Mongolian prairies, or celestial paradises.

Colorful costumes strike audience members the most- hundreds of gorgeous, hand-made garments span China’s dynasties, regions, and ethnic groups. Even leading fashion designers leave the show excited with new inspiration !

Come to join Shen Yun at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre to experience the grace, wisdom, and the virtues distilled from the five millennia of Chinese civilization.

The Heat is Coming to East Van.

With a network of over 60 studios across North America, including 2 in Vancouver, Moksha Hot Yoga is bringing their community minded ‘green’ heat to another neighborhood on BC’s West Coast.  The newest East Van location will be opening February 3, 2012 - bring a food bank donation the first week and enjoy the benefits of Moksha Hot Yoga for free!

Owners, Monique and Marie-Eve are excited to share their expertise with the growing area of Fraser and Kingsway by offering a variety of classes accessible to students from the first time yogi, people suffering from new or chronic injuries, and last but not least the seasoned yogi.  Karma classes every Friday are a two fold win for Vancouver-ites looking to improve their health - in a environmentally green studio (with plant based paints) - AND to improve their local community...all on a budget.  These classes are by donation and all funds collected will go right back into local (yes that means VANCOUVER) charities.

Karma classes aren’t the only ‘two fold win’ programs built into the every day operations of Moksha East Van, check out the ‘Give Tucker a Treat‘ program and the ‘Ambassador‘ program at mokshayogaeastvancouver.com and join Moksha East Van in their grand opening February 3 - 10 to detoxify your body, mind, soul...and lets not forget your community!
